Burdock 1The herbal lore course will involve learning the healing virtues of a number of major healing plants, plants that are common and available containing a fantastic cornucopia of remedies.

“To make the acquaintance of an herb, to understand the lowly weed, to hear it’s voice and that of spirit teaching how to make it medicine and use it for healing, is the essence of earth relationship and earth healing-the essence of herbalism.” Stephen Harrod Buhner.

Tanya Lodge a qualified herbalist helped to devise, and teaches, this course with Thomas. Her skill, experience and inclusive teaching style make this course a joy . Tanya is also available for treatment and consultation separately from the course.

We will work with plant and tree identification, identifying and harvesting with an attitude of caretaking to connect more deeply with the plants and trees. Sitting with the plants we will discover their myriad uses.

We will include information on plant and tree uses for food, utility and hygiene. We will eat some wild food as well and begin to make a herbal first aid kit. Including making herb oils, tinctures and ointments. We will also seek to make relationships with the spirit of these plants learning directly from them how to use them in a variety of ways.

We encourage full participation with all activities and ask for some assistance with basic food preparation and camp duties.
