Tribal Living Camp
26th July – 1st Aug 2010 Trackways Tribal Living Camp – ‘Journey to the Heart of Nature’
With Rites of Passage for Teens
The Trackways Tribal Living Camp creates a magical sense of community and is dedicated to helping our children truly become children of the earth. It introduces children to earth living skills in a safe and friendly environment, with the participation of their parents or guardians. The atmosphere is one of playful learning with games and stories to that end. We seek to integrate practical skills with developing our awareness of nature. There will be between two and three guided sessions per day leaving plenty of time to relax and enjoy the location.
At the centre of the week’s activities, will be a Rites of Passage for Teens, which will take place with the support of the whole community. The process of moving in to adulthood is as dynamic for the parent as the youth. The whole camp will be infused with the theme of Mentoring, guiding us to healthy relationships between all age groups. Through this tribal context can emerge, not just a discovery of ancient and beautiful skills but remembering of how we can hold each other in heartfelt community.
Work will be done in separate gender groups to allow a deeper connection with masculine and feminine energies. This will be woven together to allow the natural resurgence of both our ancient soul and our current life’s journey. Adults will be offered the opportunity to quest where possible and the younger children will be encouraged to meet the challenges of their age group.
Trackways created the family camp in 2000 and has inspired many other such similar gatherings this new form is what feels appropriate for the next decade. As the young people who have experienced our rites of passage begin to live with vision and purpose and are amazing to be around.
***If you have a young person who might be interested, then please email or call us to register their interest.***
There will be opportunities to take part in ceremony as well as learn survival skills and explore the natural history of the area.
Those who would like a gentle introduction to earth living skills will find the gathering both friendly and inspirational. It is also open to past students wanting to practice their skills.
The camp runs for a week.
Food is not included. Self-catering is welcomed and an on-site cafe will offer mostly organic meals at reasonable prices. We also have an on site shop for wholesome snacks and some essentials.
